the origin of forevermore

We are JP & Mary McLeod, the husband & wife team behind Forevermore. Our family of four moved to Nashville in 2020 after living in Uganda, Africa for four years as we grew our family. We became a family of five later that year as our son was born right here in the heart of Nashville.

While living in Uganda, we learned the art of simple & slow living. Creating warm, inviting spaces where people can hang out, enjoy simplicities like coffee & goods, connect with loved ones or make new friends has become a passion of ours.

The passion of coffee is worldwide, especially in East Africa where we were able to see the complete process of how beans are grown, roasted and eventually brewed. We also quickly discovered that to clothe our family meant to shop second hand in the local markets. It was mind blowing to learn that clothing that doesn’t sell in American thrift stores is then shipped overseas to developing countries to then be bought to sell in small markets OR dumped to burn or waste away in landfills. It was extremely eye opening the amount of waste that America creates even 8000 miles away on a different continent.

When we moved back to the states right before the lockdown, we saw how easy it could be to lose the simple, slow & intentional ways of living. Starbucks, Target and staying in our homes became way too easy as it was right at our fingertips. We realized how we could easily fall into the same lifestyle we had just four years before if we didn’t try our hardest to make intentional decisions in our everyday.

So we began shopping secondhand and through small sustainable businesses. We began visiting local coffee shops and making our own at home. It has been an honor to be able to share these passions either online or in person and NOW, here at our shop in East Nashville.
